Established in 1954, Wheaton High School serves Wheaton, Rockville and Silver Spring and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools by the Maryland State Department of Education, with available programs such as Advanced Placement, Honors and Freshman Academy. Wheaton High School, along with Montgomery Blair, Albert Einstein, J.F. Kennedy, and Northwood are the schools of choice in the Downcounty Consortium (DCC). Each of the DCC high schools offers courses of study so students may explore future career possibilities and/or better prepare themselves for post-secondary education. Currently, 20 programs are offered at the five DCC high schools.
Einstein offers the International Baccalaureate program, as well as academies in finance, visual and performing arts and The Renaissance Academy, which emphasizes the development of mathematical, reading, writing, and public speaking skills and their application in the arts and sciences.
