First-rate health care

  1. There are five major hospitals in Montgomery County: Holy Cross in Silver Spring, Washington Adventist in Takoma Park, Shady Grove Adventist in Rockville, Montgomery General in Olney, and Suburban in Bethesda. Holy Cross and Adventist are vying to build an additional hospital in the northern part of the county near Clarksburg.

  1. 1. We offer easy access to public transportation on the D.C. metro area subways. Metro rail and bus, Montgomery County’s Ride On bus service, and MARC commuter trains throughout Maryland. Ways to stay active, indoors or outdoors

  1. We have preserved a ton of green space: 38 percent of Montgomery County’s land is set aside as parks. By comparison, nearby Fairfax County, VA, has set aside only 15 percent.
  2. We are located no more than two hours from the ski slopes such as Whitetail and three from Ocean City and the Atlantic beaches.
  3. Kids of all ages and experience levels can sign up for every kind of sport imaginable: tennis, basketball, football, baseball, lacrosse, golf, karate, field hockey and soccer through the Montgomery County Recreation Department, Kids Sports League, and the YMCA among many others.
  4. You can join private swim and tennis clubs in the Montgomery County neighborhoods of Quince Orchard (known as The Bubble) in Gaithersburg, Westleigh in North Potomac, Carderock Springs in Bethesda, Potomac, Bethesda, Rockville, and Darnestown. There are also public swim centers in Germantown, Olney, Silver Spring, North Bethesda, and Rockville.
  5. For those who like to ride, Montgomery County offers more than twenty stables and horse centers, including the Potomac Horse Center, Wheaton Park Stables, and Reddemeade in Silver Spring.
  6. Our nearly three dozen Montgomery County golf courses include Blue Mash in Olney, Bethesda’s Congressional Country Club, TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm, Little Bennett in Clarksburg, Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase and Kenwood in Bethesda.
